About Us

Ezra  Recovery Centre  was founded by Pastor Alan and Amelia Ebel in 2010. Alan was an addict himself. Our passion is to break the chains of drug addiction and the effects that it has on the families in South Africa and to provide a drug prevention programme for the youth.

Ezra Recovery Centre values are based on Christian principles. We are situated on a farm 12km from Ladysmith in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Ezra recovery centre is registered as a N.P.C. 2015/169234/08, and is in the process of registering with social development.

Treating a person with a chemical substance abuse problem does not only involve keeping them substance free. It involves the gaining of insight into the severity of their problem and changing negative attitudes and behaviours. For many, these negative attitudes and behaviours have become a part of their lives for many years and change is a process that takes time.

Our vision is to provide those who are dependent on substances with the proper tools and knowledge, so that they can make the right choices to lead a successful drug free lifestyle and become an asset to society once again.

We treat people struggling with Alcohol, Tobacco, Dagga, Mandrax, Heroin, Methcathinone, Ecstasy, Cocaine, Crack, Solvents, Inhalants, and prescription drugs.

Hillview Manor Rehab Centre

Why Hillview Manor

  • The management at the Rehab Centre have experienced addiction on various levels and circumstances and can relate to the residents. They are passionate about their calling.
  • We treat our residents with respect and have the intent to return them to society as whole self-respecting individuals with a sense of purpose and belonging.
  • Our house rules are designed to instill discipline with understanding. Not just (“you will do as we say”).
  • Our “Manor” is treated as the home for all our residents, not just a place for accommodation for the recovery process.
  • The Program of recovery whilst structured, is sufficiently flexible in order that we can tailor the program to create one more conducive to recovery taking the residents personal circumstances into account.
  • The investment required to place your loved one in our care for the purpose of recovery is based on our actual costs and is thus as affordable as possible.

  • The Hillview Manor Rehabilitation Centre 6 Month Program is based on a daily structure which aids in the spiritual, physical and emotional well-being and growth of the resident.
  • The focus of the program is on behavioral improvement and social development with emphasis on self-esteem and respect. Guidance and support are provided in a safe and caring environment in order to encourage the recovery process.

Harmony Halfway House

Harmony Retreat was established in 1993 with the aim to provide a medium to long term Half-Way House facility for those who have completed treatment (either as in-patient or out-patient) at a Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre/ Out-Patient program and are in need of preparation for reintegration into society.

With a key focus on equipping residents with relevant life skills, as well as providing a nurturing environment where residents are treated with unconditional love and acceptance, Harmony Retreat provides the perfect stepping-stone between ‘Rehabilitation Centre and Real World’

Our location in rural KwaZulu Natal midlands, away from the stresses of an urban environment, enables residents to unwind and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings whilst being able to fully focus on personal development and continue their recovery.

Harmony Retreat is founded on Christian principles and values, however it has an all inclusive admission policy – therefore members of all religious groups are welcome.

Harmony Retreat is a Government registered Halfway House and a registered N.P.O.

Our treatment program consists of 3 Phases:

Phase 1: is of three months in duration, with an emphasis on increasing the Social and Life Skill levels of the resident. This is done through daily interactive group sessions, individual sessions with qualified counselors and Life-Coaching. In addition, relapse prevention, the 12 Step Program coupled with the Emotional Intelligence Series (EQ), and the opportunity to identify strengths and the setting of Goals and Visions for the future are included in this phase.

Phase 2: is also three months in duration, with a focus on Employment skills (Computer Literacy, CV and Personal Document management, Bank Account management and Debt counseling). Should the resident not have a driving license, arrangements are made for driving lessons, and tests to be taken. In addition, Entrepreneurship skills will be developed, such as basic business management principles, bookkeeping, customer relations, the writing of a business plan as well as budgets and cash-flow projections. During this phase the resident will be expected to show self-discipline and the ability to take responsibility for contributing to the community at Harmony Retreat and the community at large. This is facilitated through voluntary projects, outreaches to schools and other local organizations.

Phase 3: is the culmination of Phase 1 and 2, and involves the resident either finding external employment, exploring and enrolling on further study options or having assistance with the establishment and development of a Micro-Business, all while still residing within the safe environment of Harmony Retreat. This phase has a maximum duration of 6 months.

Hillview Manor Rehabilitation Centre

Hillview Manor Rehabilitation Centre is a haven for individuals who have been broken and robbed by various addictions. We, as a recovery centre want to remove them from the destructive lives they have been living and give them the opportunity to find wholeness, healing and freedom in a safe and secure environment.  (The centre was previously called  "Faith unleashed Women's Recovery Centre" and is in the process of changing this name.)

We set out to help residents find self-worth, emotional healing and a strong foundation, as well as equip them with the tools and skills they need to re-enter society and be fully functional individuals.

Our vision is to see individuals return to their families as well-rounded and healthy living people, the way it was intended for them. We want to see them believing in themselves and never again settling for less than their worth.
