Private, affordable in-patient treatment for drug and alcohol dependence.

Phoenix House provides residential in-patient programmes of 3, 4, 6 and 8 weeks which are designed to develop a healing, confidential, professional and safe environment for people seeking recovery. Our premises (a 1933 historical building) have recently been upgraded and refurbished. We offer a pleasant, comfortable yet structured, disciplined and therapeutic environment.

Our approach is largely based on the 12 Step  programme of   recovery, and  a   number of our staff members are clean and sober   ex-addicts and alcoholics. Our professional counsellors are able to   connect with patients because they  have  walked a similar path,    and are therefore   able to understand    the  complexities of   addiction.

Similarly,  patients are able to relate to counsellors  and  become   open and willing to engage in the process of recovery.

This is achieved through participation in groups and one-on-one sessions with  our addiction counsellors and social workers, as well as educational groups and aftercare sessions. Post-discharge, patients are strongly encouraged to attend 12 Step Programme meetings such as Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).

We have 24/7 nursing staff and admissions, and are contracted into most medical aid schemes. Please contact us for further information – 011 673 0400, or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Phumuza Recovery Centre

1 Opening potPhumuza Halfway House

(Take a break)

Make it a memorable break away with us.
Phumuza means "Take a Break" in Zulu & that is exactly what we would like you to do.

The property lends itself to an atmosphere of recovery; with ample space for the client to come to terms with their recovery.

We have 100 acres of diverse indigenous bushveld, prolific birdlife and small game.
There is a quaint lookout tower which provides an awesome view.

The terrain is fairly flat with interesting walks on well set out paths.

Phumuza offers a full board, sober living house for anyone wanting to make a full recovery from addiction. Sober living after rehab, is a critical step for the transition that every addict needs to make.

We bridge the gap from a treatment centre back into a daily living routine. Daily life follows a routine which includes meal times together, chores and relaxation.

Addicts often relapse when they suddenly get their freedom back and are faced with the triggers and stresses of daily life.

At Phumuza residents regain freedom of movement, which is progressive from month to month. It goes hand-in-hand with strong accountability and drug testing.

Residents are encouraged to enrol in studies, re-open bank accounts, find work and attend meetings.

We aim to provide a medium to long term Half-Way House facility for those who have completed treatment (either as in-patient or out-patient) at a Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre/ Out-Patient program and are in need of preparation for reintegration into society.

With a key focus on equipping residents with relevant life skills, as well as providing a nurturing environment where residents are treated with unconditional love and acceptance, Phumuza provides the perfect stepping-stone between ‘Rehabilitation Centre and Real World’.

Our location in the unspoilt bushveld of Bela Bela, away from the stresses of an urban environment, enables residents to unwind and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings whilst being able to fully focus on personal development and continue their recovery. Phumuza is founded on Christian principles and values.

We follow The Celebrate Recovery (12 Step and 8 Beatitudes) program written by Rick warren from the Saddleback Church

Reconnective Healing is often a life- changing experience, utilizing new frequencies to allow for the healing of the body, mind, and spirit. Vastly different from Reiki, Johrei, Jin Shin, Qi Gong or Pranic Healing.   Reconnective Healing is beyond ANY technique you’ve encountered

“If you’re lucky, your healing will

Come in the form you anticipate.   If

You’re really lucky, your healing

will come in a form you’ve not even

dreamed of – one which the Universe

Specifically has in mind for you.”

-Eric Pearl-

Eric Pearl is an acknowledged instrument through which The Reconnection is unfolding and being introduced to the world.   Eric ran a highly successful chiropractic practice for 12 years until one day in 1993, when patients began seeing angels and reporting miraculous healings from numerous conditions including cancers, birth disfigurements, cerebral palsy, and Aids- related diseases. The work of The Reconnection had begun.

These highly palpable energies are initiated by your Reconnective Healing Practitioner at the start of your session, and continue working with you long after your visit has ended.   Through your participation in these sessions, you will be forever changed, operating at, and attuned to, a higher frequency than ever before.

Eric Pearls work has since elicited a tremendous amount of interest from researchers and doctors worldwide.   He’s appeared on numerous radio and television programs, and his work has been documented in six books, including his own best-seller “THE RECONNECTION: HEAL OTHERS, HEAL YOURSELF”

Eric tours and teachers worldwide, activating people’s innate healing abilities, graduating thousands of Practitioners who successfully facilitate these healings in their own right.

South Coast Recovery Centre

Rehabilitation: To restore rightful position, place and potential in society; to restore to effectiveness, potential, or normal life by training.

SCRC is situated in Ramsgate on the lower KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, strategically positioned for the therapeutic and outdoor environment needed during the rehabilitation process.

SCRC employs a staff of almost 50 caregivers, all with extensive expertise and experience in their respective fields. The multidisciplinary therapeutic team comprises of addiction counsellors, registered counsellors, social workers, professional and enrolled nurses, as well as a sessional doctor and sessional clinical psychologist. Most importantly, all are exceptionally committed to this ministry.

SCRC occupies 23 acres equipped for the specific purpose of supporting a therapeutic community. Several staff members reside on-site to ensure effective support at all times.

SCRC's approach is aimed at facilitating change from the culture of addiction to the culture of recovery. A holistic treatment approach is achieved by incorporating all the elements of treatment available at SCRC, and formulating a treatment programme unique to each individual receiving treatment. As each drug has different idiosyncrasies, craving cycles and effect, the drug of choice is factored into the individualised programme. The holistic approach focuses on all maladaptive behaviours, not only limited to addiction, and aims at improving life skills, family relationships, social abilities, employability and skills development, and maximising human potential.

SCRC specialises in the treatment of addiction to all substances, OCD, as well as the treatment of behaviour disorders, eating disorders, sexual disorders, abuse, trauma and bereavement. Life skills training and development are also provided within this process.

SCRC is registered with the Department of Social Development, the Department of Health, the Board of Health Funders, the local municipality, as well as numerous international bodies.
